Congratulations – another Book Fair successfully undertaken!

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to the organisation and running of the Autumn Book Fair.  Whether you’re a volunteer who has already earned a medal for long service, or someone for whom this Fair was your first experience, your involvement and help were invaluable – without you, the Fairs could not take place.

The April Book Fair was the first one to be held at Phoenix Book Corner (PBC) and it was a steep learning curve, with not everything running as smoothly as was hoped.  Thanks to your feedback and constructive suggestions on how to improve things, together with months of hard physical work, the transformation of both the inside of PBC and the ‘makeover’ of the grounds have been amazing.

Those coming to the Fair had nothing but praise for the overall organisation, improvements to parking, the more attractive and spacious layout inside and the professional way in which all the items for sale were displayed.

However, the most valuable and heart-warming comments that were heard related to the warm welcome and helpfulness of all the volunteers. It is your attitude, ready smiles and good humour which have given, and continue to give, the Phoenix Book Fairs their glowing reputation.

Despite the slow start on Saturday morning and the ensuing damp weather – sadly some things still remain beyond our control – the Fair was another financial success, with over 15,000€ taken.  This money will be used to help finance the rescue, care and rehoming of animals in need.

We would like to thank all our volunteers, together with your friends and families whose support has enabled you to give so much time to helping with the Book Fair.

Please enjoy some well-earned rest over the next couple of weeks before sorting resumes on Friday 30th October!
