Laïka is a beautiful six-year-old Husky–Czechoslovakian Wolfdog mix with striking blue eyes and the appearance of a wolf, but the heart of a gentle companion. Weighing around 28 kg, she is an active, intelligent and affectionate dog who is looking for a loving home with another friendly dog, as she thrives on canine companionship and does not cope well with being left alone for long periods.
Laïka has been living with her foster family since the beginning of May, and although she has settled in beautifully, it is now time to find the permanent home she truly deserves.
She is an exceptionally kind and gentle dog who adores people of all ages, including children, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Even when another dog behaves aggressively towards her, Laïka remains calm and never retaliates. She has never shown aggression and rarely barks, making her a peaceful and easy companion.
Although she will happily chase cats in an attempt to play, she quickly loses interest and leaves them alone.
Highly intelligent and eager to be involved in family life, Laïka is also affectionate and loving. Like many clever dogs, she can occasionally be a little stubborn and has even learned how to open doors. She never destroys household items, is extremely gentle around the home and does not beg for food, although any unattended snacks may mysteriously disappear!
As an active Husky–Wolfdog mix, Laïka loves being outdoors. She enjoys long walks, exploring nature and having plenty of exercise, always preferring to be with her people. She has excellent recall and does not run away. At her foster home the garden is unfenced, and she walks freely without attempting to escape. She is equally comfortable walking on a lead in towns and near roads.
She is not fond of water but is exceptionally clean. Her beautiful coat is soft, odour-free and does not tangle, and she is fully house-trained, always toileting outside during walks.
Travelling is no problem for Laïka. She settles quietly in the car, happily lying on the back seat or curling up on the front passenger seat like a little fox.
Laïka is sterilised, microchipped and fully vaccinated. She is in excellent health and ready to begin the next chapter of her life.
Because she forms strong bonds and dislikes being alone, Laïka's ideal home would include another friendly dog to keep her company and a family who can give her the love, companionship and outdoor adventures she enjoys so much.
